So nice......suka lah saya tengok anak orchid tumbuh natural. Sekarang tempat saya pun ada anak yg baru, iaitu Dendrobium lamellatum dan Dendrobium acerosum. Saya tengah try Dendrobium secundum seeds dalam pot biasa ni pun senang tumbuh di merata-rata tempat......

wah sifu kk and sifu pdox,
nanti boleh la ajar saya.
sekarang saya dah cuba guna satu bekas plastik see through. letak moss lembap dan myco. dah dua minggu dah sekarang, so rasa2 dan harap2 myco tu dah start growing la. pagi tadi, try letak seeds cymbidium dan spattho.
next week kena pergi kerja balik, and hopefully bila balik around middle of september nanti ada la tiny2 seedlings. harap2 la, kalau takde i plan to wait for approx 3 months before disposing the experiment item. kalau berjaya, akan di update...

Hope it is not D. crumentum. Can update your other seedlings? if it is not crumenatum then it is probably secundum. there was a phal cc with an exploded pod nearby but these seedlings don't look like phal seedlings. i don't remember any other orchids nearby with burst pods.

You can harvest the pods and sow them as you like or send them for flasking. I just let mine burst on their own.

Are these phalaenopsis babies? The bigger baby already has two roots into the sphagnum moss/fern piece while the smaller one below it has no distinctive roots yet. I placed the smaller one below it for size comparison. There was one phal pod (not bellina, think it was one of my phal cornu cervis) that burst some months ago, and this mount could have been nearby I do not remember too well as I have moved around my orchids quite a bit in recent weeks. This mount has two adult bellinas on it and I have never had any bellina pods burst naturally. Other than phal pods, I also had dendro pods burst naturally as well as arundina, phaius, coelogyne, oberonia but these babies do not look anything like those orchids. They look very much like phal babies? If they indeed turn out to be phal babies, I'll be SO HAPPY!! Because that means I can use this means to propagate my phals! The babies are growing on this mount (two adult bellinas with sphagnum moss on a piece of fern section). I found 4 babies on this mount. This is the smaller baby and has no obvious roots yet. I have moved three of the small rootless ones to a community pot as they were nearly washed off the mount by rain. This bigger baby already has two roots into the sphagnum moss/fern piece. I'll let it grow here naturally. I discovered this biggest one many weeks ago but had no idea what it was then. With the second leaf out, it does look a lot more like a phal seedling now. Along with the bigger one, I also found a smaller one which I think got washed off by the rain as I can't find it on the mount anymore, the smaller babies I found recently appear to be different ones. ------- Besides these, I also have many more babies on a different mount sprouting like mushrooms after the rain... These are most likely D. crumenatum though I hope they are D. secundum as I also had some secundum pods burst many weeks ago.
