Posting FAQs -
1. Can I post photos to the forum? If so, how?
Certainly! However, the forum does not support direct uploads. You may post pictures hosted on other photo sites such as Flickr or Photobucket. Please obtain the direct image address and enclose it within the image tags [/img] without any spaces.
2. Must I know the plant name to post photos?
No. However, including the plant names is helpful especially when searching the board for any particular species. Try including the names even in mixed-general general threads if you know it. However, feel free to post and share your plant photos if you don't know the names or forgotten them or just don't have the time to look them up, but please use the general photos sub board for orchids.
3. Can I post general quick photos without knowing or including the plant names?
Yes, but please use the general photos sub board. Refer FAQ number 2.
4. What if I need help identifying an orchid?
Please post in Orchid Help with your request and photo(s).
5. What if I am not sure where to put my orchid photo, even if I know the species name?
Please post in All Other Genera. If possible at all, please do use one genus per thread (multiple species of the same genus in one thread is okay but preferably, do separate them with name in title).
6. I don't see a category or sub board for my orchid?
Refer FAQ number 5. If you have any suggestions on what other popular genera/sub boards to add, please use the suggestions/feedback board.
7. If I include multiple or different genera in one single thread because I don't have the time to separate them, where can I post it to?
Please post to the general photos sub board.
8. Why all the fuss???
No fuss really. Just got nothing else to do mah. :P Seriously, the idea is to help anyone, especially newbies, to look or search for certain species they are interested in or would like to look up photos of. It also makes it easier to go through the photo threads rather than having to sift through many other threads not of any interest to the browser.
9. Can I show scenery or location pictures?
Please don't! Scenery shots are beautiful but if it means putting the plants at risk of poachers and greedy collectors, please refrain from revealing any location names or location photos. Use your own judgement. Obviously if it's in protected National Park or orchid garden or rehabilitation center etc. that's a different thing.
10. The "vandaceous orchids" sub board is too big and too broad! Any way of splitting it?
Working on it and open to any suggestions! :)
