Hi everyone, Which orchid do you think is the most fragrant? This is open to all orchid and hybrids; irregardless whether popular or specialist orchids. Fragrance means sweet-smelling fragrant wafting smoothly through the air; enveloping the surrounding area even though its only having 1 plant. If more than 1 plant is required for fragrance, then please indicate with Quantity required. For example would be Cattleya Hybrids as I've been told. If 1 were to move very close over the flower to smell its fragrance, I think Distance: Close proximity should be indicated to differentiate it from heavily fragrant orchids. If anyone could translate this into Bahasa, please do so for the benefit of our Malay friends. Please posts pictures of the orchid and its name, for example. Name: Vanda Mini PalmerQuantity: N/A Distance: N/A

My all time favourite will be dendro anosmum and also coelogyne rochusseni. Both of these plants have a pretty strong scent and you can smell them even from a few metres away. the scents are stronger in the morning, a good excuse to move my morning coffee and newspaper spot to the garden when they're blooming ;D My pitiful excuse of a rochusseni. Khairi, please post yours because my rochu wants to grow up and be just like yours hehehe... Dendro anosmum

Harris, everyone's rochus is fragrant except mine. Seems like all of mine are without smell no matter where or who they came from.
My favorite fragrant orchid has got to be the sweet smelling vanilla phals which look like phal cornu cervi. so good u wanna eat them! followed by phal corningiana, superbly fragrant.

THE TIPS : After the rochu bloom.. stop High K fertilizer... feed it with high N to induce more new plant shoots.. until one month before the bloom season...in peneinsular Malaysia ..some where around november till january .. stop high N...feed it with high K..

Thank you so much Harris, Pdox and Khairimhd for replying. Having pictures does help tremendously especially those who are new to orchids. ;-) I only thought that Vanda Mini Palmer was the most fragrant orchid based on what the nursery had. How wrong can I be! Hmmmm looks like I have to widen my search now and so the hunt begins.
